Explanation
- Nemesis is the goddess who punishes mankind’s pride and arrogance. She is here reading a list of the guilty. Her foot rests on the wheel of fortune. The eagle on the left is the symbol of Jupiter. Jupiter, the ruler of Olympus, here acts as the supreme judge. The scene is an allegory of “Justice”.
