Minerva Adds a Soul to the Human Being Created by Prometheus, A319


  • As a sculptor, Prometheus has here created the first human being from clay, and the goddess Minerva imbues it with
    consciousness or soul in the shape of a butterfly (an image of the soul), which she places on its head. The scene is an allegory of “Wisdom”.
