Explanation

• The relief shows the genius of the year, that is to say the guardian spirit of the year, in the form of a small boy with wings like an angel. The wreath on his arm, the sickle and the sheaf of corn in his right hand, the bunch of grapes in his left hand and the skates on his feet each symbolize a season of the year. Along the outer edge of the relief there is a border containing the signs of the zodiac.
