Explanation
- The cameo renders a female dressed in a flowing garment, a so-called chiton, and a veil floating around her head and the upper part of her body. She is usually interpreted as Aurora, the goddess of dawn. Every day, Aurora would climb into her chariot, which was usually drawn by white horses, and raise the curtains of the sky for the sun god Apollo.
