Thorvaldsen is here seen in a Roman hostelry, seated at the end of a well-laid table. On his right are the painters Ernst Meyer, Blunck himself in profile and Jørgen Sonne wearing a grey top hat. Just coming in through the door is Constantin Hansen, and at the other long side of the table, Gottlieb Bindesbøll – the architect of Thorvaldsens Museum – is turning to say something to the waiter. Wilhlem Marstrand is poking his head forward just behind Bindesbøll, and the artist drawing the scene on the left is Albert Küchler.
